Subject
Advertisement for the Daunou theater directed by Jane Renouardt. It first opened its doors on December 30, 1921.

Description:
In front of the theater gates appears a woman in a red dress, fur, and pearl necklace. It is the portrait of Jane Renouardt."Creating a beautiful poster is more difficult than one might think. It is not only about producing a work of art but also about imposing its sight and reading upon passersby through the brilliance it projects on the wall where it appears for a time. Cappiello, successor to Chéret, rarely misses his mark. Though he has many imitators, he remains the only one who achieves perfection in his art. It is true that for the poster in question, circumstances favored him, as he had to reproduce the features of one of Paris's most notable 'professional beauties,' Miss Jane Renouardt. He succeeded in turning his charming model into a true portrait while giving the whole the loud vibrancy that any well-conceived poster demands. The result is remarkable, and we can only congratulate the artist for a poster that is, in its genre, a masterpiece" (in La Renaissance de l'art français et des industries de luxe, March 4, 1922, p. 100).
