Fortuna, goddess of luck, repairs the inner tube of her wheel blindfolded. Before the advent of Patches, punctures happened often given the state of the roads and repairs were difficult. Having Patches was a real stroke of luck, especially in competition. Using them was so easy you could even consider doing it blindfolded!
