Subject
In 1906 France had many student associations. The merging of these associations into a single one took place in Lille in May 1907. It was named UNEF: National Union of French Student Associations. The UNEF only dealt with French matters. International issues were referred to the International Congress held in September 1907 in Bordeaux, where national associations from various countries participated. In student circles, studious congresses are accompanied by many festive moments.

Description:
Many photos from that time show these student parties as predominantly male. The men usually wear a faluche, a large velvet beret that has been in fashion for nearly 20 years. In this context, Cappiello depicts such a party, where wine and cheerfulness are clearly present.
