Illustrations

Early in his career, Cappiello devoted all his time to caricature. But he soon turned his attention to poster art, with equal success.

His fame had become so great that everyone sought him out to create book covers, magazine covers, invitation cards, etc. During the 1914-1918 war, he illustrated programs for sales or charity shows. His signature was a guarantee of success.

In this way, he showed that he was also an excellent illustrator.

Here are just a few of the major works that illustrate his talent

Le Cri de Paris, Vendre, Miroir du Monde, …

Between the covers of *Cri de Paris* around 1900 and those of *Miroir du Monde* on March 21, 1936, one can measure the full evolution of his illustrative art over 40 years. It begins with pretty, dynamic silhouettes and culminates in a solid, balanced body of work that still retains a touch of whimsy.
