Remark:
This mock-up dates from 1926 and is listed as "Tomatoes - Italy" in the small notebook written by Cappiello cataloging the works he completed. It was modified after his death with the agreement of his son Jean Cappiello, as evidenced by the label on the back of the copy belonging to the Musée des Arts Décoratifs (https://catalogue.cappiello.fr/produit/barbier-dauphin/). Two canned goods would have been added to the mock-up on the right side and those at the bottom left, along with the lower lettering "Barbier Dauphin," "Le fin du fin," and possibly the word "conserves." The word "d’après" was added to the signature on the lithograph. On the mock-up, the signature predates these modifications.
